Visit at the Domaine Cros de Romet in Cairanne (30.05.2026)

Visit to Domaine Cros de Romet in Cairanne with a tasting of the estate’s only wine: Cros de Romet 2024. A Grenache‑driven blend with Syrah and Mourvèdre, showing dark fruit, spice, and smooth tannins. Vinified in concrete and stainless steel to preserve purity, the 2024 vintage combines power and elegance. A must‑try for Rhône lovers.

During my visit to Cairanne, I also had the chance to taste the only wine produced by Domaine Cros de Romet, crafted by Alain Boisson: the Cros de Romet 2024. The 2023 vintage was not produced; instead, a new cuvée called BabyCros was released that year.

Cros de Romet 2024 – A Pure Expression of Cairanne Terroir

The Cros de Romet 2024 is the sole cuvée of Alain Boisson and represents a concentrated, authentic expression of the Cairanne AOC in the Southern Rhône. The blend is dominated by Grenache, complemented by Syrah and Mourvèdre, showcasing the classic Rhône character and the unmistakable style of the winemaker: pure fruit, fine spice, and an elegant, silky texture.

Aromatics & Flavor Profile

On the nose, the wine reveals dark fruit aromas such as blackberry and black cherry, supported by notes of pepper, licorice, and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is full‑bodied yet never heavy. The tannins are ripe and smooth, leading into a long, harmonious finish.

Winemaking & Style

Cros de Romet is vinified traditionally in concrete and stainless steel, with no use of barriques. This approach preserves the purity of the fruit and highlights the character of the Cairanne terroir. The 2024 vintage combines power and elegance, demonstrating why this small single‑vineyard wine has such a strong reputation among Rhône enthusiasts.

The wine comes in at 15.5% alcohol, typical for the warm, concentrated style of Cairanne.

Conclusion

Cros de Romet 2024 is a standout Southern Rhône red wine — expressive, balanced, and deeply rooted in its terroir. For lovers of Grenache‑driven Rhône blends, it is a must‑try and a perfect example of the craftsmanship of Alain Boisson.
