Visit at the Domaine Burgaud in Cote-Rotie (28.05.2026)

Visit to Domaine Burgaud in Côte‑Rôtie with barrel tastings from four key plots: Côte Blonde, Le Champin, Les Moutonnes and Bonnivières. The 2025 Côte‑Rôtie already shows harmony and depth. New this year is a vibrant Condrieu under Sélection Pierre Burgaud. A visit is highly recommended—appointment required.

Visit at Domaine Burgaud in Côte‑Rôtie – Barrel Tasting (28 May 2026)

As every year, one of my regular stops in Côte‑Rôtie is Domaine Burgaud. It’s always a pleasure to taste the wines directly from the barrel and see how the different plots shape the final wine. This year it was hosted by Vernoika Burgaud.

The domaine produces only one Côte‑Rôtie, but it is built from four distinct components we tasted separately:

  • CĂ´te Blonde – powerful, structured tannins

  • Le Champin – the fruit‑driven part of the blend

  • Les Moutonnes – minerality and freshness

  • Bonnivières – elegance, fine tannins, and a mineral finish

After tasting the four parts, the final blend shows how everything comes together exactly as Pierre intends. The 2025 Côte‑Rôtie is already harmonious and approachable in its youth.

New this year is a Condrieu, released under Sélection Pierre Burgaud. As a fan of white wines from the northern Rhône, this one immediately stood out: good acidity, tropical fruit, and a fresh, mineral backbone — everything you need for a vibrant, enjoyable Viognier.

I can only recommend making a visit if you are in the region — just make sure to book an appointment in advance.
